New wildfire near Chapleau being held, but it's enough to raise surrounding rating
Ontario’s interactive fire map for the North Shore region as of 9 am, June 17th.
The North Shore region is currently in a mixed wildfire picture, with a new 1 hectare fire near Chapleau raising the surrounding danger rating as far down as Manitoulin Island to “high", while much of the rest of the region is rated “moderate.” There are a couple of patches of “extreme” fire rating at Temiskaming Shores and close to North Bay.
The 7-Day Forecast for most of the region shows an on-and-off chance of showers, which should be good for holding down fire danger

There was one new wildland fire confirmed in the Northeast Region today:
Chapleau 9 (CHA009) is 1 hectare and is located around 6 kilometres north of highway 667 and approximately 35 kilometres southeast of Chapleau. It is being held.
There are 3 active wildland fires in the Northeast Region; One is under control, one is being held, and one is being observed.
The fire hazard is primarily high in the Northeast region. The fire hazard is extreme in Temiskaming Shores and east of Sudbury. The hazard is moderate in the area of Sault Ste. Marie. Along the James Bay, the hazard is low to moderate.
All residents are advised to stay alert to fire danger and related weather conditions.
